Launch of 316 Stainless Steel VMS 100 and 180
Armstrong is pleased to announce that the Series 4700
VMS100 and VMS180 pumps are available in “all 316 stainless
steel” construction, in addition to existing models with cast iron
volutes.
Effective immediately, Armstrong can order the 316 stainless steel VMS 100 and 180 models with an 8 week lead time, with availability of first shipments beginning the first week of January 2006. These “all stainless steel” models command a 20% price premium over their cast iron counterparts, consistent with previous VMS pricing.
While the lead-time challenges we are
experiencing with models 15, 30, and 50 VMS
pumps are separate from our
ability to build and ship models
100 and 180
VMS pumps, we are
being conservative with this launch and are
working actively to move to a standard 6 weeks
as soon as possible, once overall service levels
for VMS are improved.
With these new additions, we now have VMS 15, 30 and 50 available in 304 (standard) or 316 (premium) stainless steel construction , and the VMS 100 and 180 in cast iron (standard) or 316 stainless (premium) construction. While the materials of construction for a standard “cast iron” VMS include several wetted components made of 304 stainless (see the chart below), the use of a cast iron volute defines the construction as “cast iron”.
